"Me llamo Anthony Cupaiuolo. I am a twenty-four year old avid
snowboarder. I began my snowboarding career during the winter of 89/90 on a
pink and black "Black Snow". In the past ten+ years my riding (and taste in
boards) has improved immensely.
I began instucting and competing during the 94/95 season in Western New York.
I got PSIA certified, joined USASA, and began competing in the sanctioned
Western New York Snowboarding Series.
After undergrad I moved to Tahoe and taught at Heavenly. There, I began to
appreciate freeriding more, but continued to compete as well.
Now, back East I am relegated to flatter, iceier and generally crapier
terrain, but my passion for riding is as strong as ever. I still teach private
lessons and will (as I did last year) compete in the Vans Ultimate Rider Series
(placing second and third in consecutive events last season) and in other areas
as well as Vermont contests.
I rode Division 23 all of last season, but am looking elsewhere this season.
Still up in the air as to what my ride will be. Suggestions and donations will
be accepted with large smiles...
Ever since I did an internship with C-SPAN back in the summer of '96 I had the dream
of snowboarding on the Capitol. Fianally, in March of '99, we got just enough
snow to pull it off.
I definitely got some looks on the Metro while wearing my gear and carrying a
large board with metal edges...and a few more as I hiked up the Capitol steps.
I got about 5 runs in before the Capitol Police made it quite clear that of
all the places where it was ok for me to be, that wasn't one of them."
